Victoria Beckham alias Posh Spice, is a British artist, fashion designer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She was born Victoria Caroline Adams on April 17, 1974, in Harlow, Essex, England. After attending St. Mary's High School in Cheshunt, Victoria Beckham studied dance and modelling at Laine Theater Arts in Epsom, Surrey, England.
Victoria Beckham breakthrough into fame could be argued to had began in 1994 when she joined the all-female pop group called Spice Girls, as Victoria Adams. The Spice Girls was one of the most successful pop groups in the 1990s, with record sales exceeding 55 million records worldwide. Victoria Beckham went solo in 2000 and signed with Virgin Records and Telstar Records. As a solo artist, she had 4 UK Top 10 singles.
Victoria Beckham got more involved in fashion design in the 2000s, and became internationally recognized style icon and fashion designer. She launched an eponymous label in 2008, and a budget label in 2011.
Victoria Beckham also engages actively in philanthropy. Her philanthropic activities have so far concern among others, children welfare, eradication of HIV/AIDS, and animal rights. She is goodwill ambassador of UNAIDS, United Nations body responsible for containment of HIV/AIDS. In October 2016, she was in Kenya to support Kenya's campaign for eradication of HIV/AIDS.
On December 30, 2016, it was reported that Queen Elizabeth 11 of England awarded Victoria Beckham an OBE, Order of the British Empire, as part of the Queen's New Year Honors List for 2017, in recognition Ms Beckham's contribution to the fashion industry and commitment to philanthropy. She collected the OBE from the Duke of Cambridge on April 19, 2017, in a ceremony held at the Buckingham Palace.
As and individual, Victoria Beckham is friendly, empathetic, and non-materialistic. The latter is implied from documented anecdotes that say that as a child, Victoria Beckham was publicly uncomfortable with her parent's wealth. Particularly, she felt uncomfortable to be dropped in her school in her parent's expensive luxury car, because she perhaps did not like other less fortunate children in her school to think she was different just because her parents were rich. This early perception of significance of wealth could probably explain her engagement in philanthropy in her later stages of her life. In our opinion, we also think Victoria Beckham's life illustrates that it is possible to strike a good balance between careerism and other aspects of life.
With an estimated net worth of $450 million as of 2019 by Celebrity Net Worth magazine, Victoria Beckham has definitely made remarkable career milestones so far. Together with her concerted efforts to help the less fortunate and sick, through philanthropy, there is no doubt whatsoever, Victoria Beckham is, indeed, a very smart beautiful woman.
