Paetongtarn Shinawatra Becomes Thailand's Youngest PM
Female Celebrity News August 16, 2024
Paetongtarn Shinawatra is Thailand's new prime minister (PM). She was elected PM by the country's parliament on August 16, 2024 (local time). Her election came after recently elected PM Srettha Thavisin was fired by Thailand's top court.
At 37, she becomes Thailand's youngest PM. She also becomes the country's second female PM.
Paetongtarn Shinawatra who belongs to the Pheu Thai Party, is the daughter of ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra and niece of ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra. Her accession to power could therefore be seen as a consolidation of what has been described in some quarters as the Shinawatra political dynasty.
